President Herbert Hoover

United States President Herbert Hoover was a personal friend of Charles Segerstrom. He was a guest at Knowles Hill in 1936 & 1940. They corresponded frequently and some of the original letters from Hoover to Segerstrom are still here. Hoover was a professional mining engineer and author, and became the 31st President in 1929. A strong believer in voluntarism vs. government coercion, he made a name for himself with his charitable work before the Presidency and he donated his entire Presidential salary to charity.

Call for Details...

The Herbert Hoover Room was known as the "Auntie's Room" when Knowles Hill was built in 1927. Carrie Segerstrom's beloved aunt lived with the family for many years, and when she became too elderly to join the family in the dining room, young Donald would spend the evening with her in this room relating the details of table conversation she had missed. This corner room shares a southern balcony with the Segerstrom Suite that towers three floors above the driveway and rose garden below with stunning views to the West and South. From the four poster Cal-King bed one can see all the way to Stockton Road where it leaves Sonora far in the distance.
